On the Set of Michael Mann's Public Enemies
Director Michael Mann spent the majority of last summer shooting his Thirties heist film, Public Enemies, in his native Chicago. The film, which opens today, stars Johnny Depp as bankrobber John Dillinger and Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis, the overzealous FBI agent who brought him down. STOP SMILING was on hand to document some of scenes shot on Lincoln Avenue, the home of the Biograph Theatre, the spot where Dillinger was shot and killed in 1934 in a shootout with police.
