Impressions from Mexico City:
Passion Play

On Good Friday in Iztapalapa, a mestizo district of Mexico City, Semana Santa culminates with the largest reenactment of the Passion of Christ anywhere in the world. This annual revival emerged in the 19th century celebrating the end of a devastating cholera epidemic. Today it remains a sublime manifestation of religious devotion and native mysticism.
