STOP SMILING celebrated the beginning of spring by hosting the Thrifty Consignment Sale, a fundraiser organized by students at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The sale's proceeds were split between consignors and a fund that supports projects and research for the Arts Administration program at the school. Along with the consigned wares, three independent designers set up booths, and friends of STOP SMILING sold books and movies from their personal libraries. The images here are from the first moments of the sale, as the event volunteers and vendors prepared the space, and the first customers trickled in for what became a long day of bargain hunting.
