It wasn’t until hundreds of people had squeezed into The Syndicate for the FLAMESHOVEL showcase to see The Narrator and Make Believe that it dawned on us: This is just like a basement hardcore show, circa 1985. For that very reason, it was one of the most memorable nights to date at STOPSMILING HQ.
The Narrator gave the audience a taste of their upcoming album All That to the Wall, which is slated for a late winter release. Then Make Believe took over with a mix of classics and new tracks from their forthcoming record Of Course, due out in October. Both bands were great, and it was a real treat to see them in such an intimate setting. Frier Tuck and DJ Babyanimals really turned it out too, so thanks again to those ladies. Once again, a huge thanks to Goose Island, who are partially responsible for the sudden surge of alcohol consumption in Wicker Park this summer… Partially.
